Patrick J Fenech’s upcoming exhibition, ‘CAGED SPACES-A Photographer’s Gaze of Malta at the Turn of the Millennium’, curated by Caroline Tonna, examines the importance and validity of Documentary Photography in today’s world, whilst inviting viewers to witness Malta’s transition captured through the lens.

Embarking on his photographic journey in the mid-70s, Fenech’s shift from painting to photography marked the genesis of a captivating visual odyssey. Extracted from a pivotal period around the turn of the Millennium, his collection offers a poignant glimpse into the redolent lifestyles of Maltese communities, steeped in simplicity and tranquility.

Spanning from the late 1970s to the early 2000s, Fenech’s photographs, captured with 35mm analog cameras using black-and-white celluloid film, encapsulate a bygone era.
