The Artistic Legacy of Aldo Micallef-Grimaud (1925-2010) |
Exhibition |
6th September- 28th September 2025
Hosted by Heritage Malta, this forthcoming exhibition celebrates the life and work of Aldo Micallef-Grimaud, one of Malta’s most accomplished traditional artists. The exhibition spans seven decades of portraiture, still lifes, landscapes, and different approaches to painting. The project was an active collaboration with the artist’s daughter, Nadine Micallef-Grimaud, who contributed valuable archival material. Together with the exhibition, a publication published by Heritage Malta and written by Profs Louis Lagana offers a richly layered tribute to an artist whose technical mastery and emotional depth continue to inspire. This exhibition repositions Aldo Micallef-Grimaud’s traditional art within a contemporary frame. Through newly uncovered works, personal archives, and Nadine Micallef-Grimaud’s intimate reflections, it invites audiences to rediscover a forgotten legacy. In a time when digital and conceptual art dominate, the exhibition speaks to the enduring human need for beauty, memory, and craftsmanship.
Exhibition curated by Profs Louis Lagana in collaboration with Nadine Micallef-Grimaud.
