‘Masterpieces at MUŻA’ represents a first for Malta. It reflects an expression of the trust that Heritage Malta enjoys within international circles and is an extension of the National Agency’s commitment to make local and international cultural patrimony accessible to the public.
Spanning a period that encompasses the idiom of the High Renaissance up to the extravagances of the Rococo style, the majority of this impressive array of paintings had been out of public sight for decades.
On 11 June 2021, these 13 Old Master works of art made their national debut. Watch highlights from the press launch with elucidatory comments (in Maltese) by:
Mr Kenneth Cassar – Senior Curator for Arts and Ethnography, Heritage Malta
Mr Noel Zammit – Chief Executive Officer, Heritage Malta
Mr Mario Cutajar – Executive Director, Heritage Malta
