Part of the RETOLD project by Arts Council Malta, ‘Constellations from the Quarry’ presents the several outcomes which led to the installation of URNA: the award-winning Maltapavilion at the London Design Biennale 2025. URNA proposes a future ritual for bodily disposition, using reconstituted stone to create large spherical structures arranged in the form of a constellation-a field of memory. The exhibition is not only visually intriguing, but also symbolic of the way the team worked and how their different references came together!URNA comes at an important time, when cremation is legalised in Malta but no crematoria exist, providing an offering within this current reality.
